Congratulations to Dr. Kitty Wu, the President of AsianSTSS, for being awarded "The Second Hong Kong Humanity Award" !
Congratulations to Dr. Kitty Wu, the President of Asian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (AsianSTSS), for being awarded "The Hong Kong Humanity Award 2009 " which is co-organized by the Hong Kong Red Cross and Radio Television Hong Kong on 2 May 2009. This very first award of its kind in Hong Kong aims to give tribute to those live up to and put into practice the spirit of humanity, and it represents an honorable recognition of Dr. Wu's achievement and commitment in humanitarian contribution.
Dr. Wu is currently working as Senior Clinical Psychologist in Kwai Chung Hospital. Being the President of the AsianSTSS, Dr. Wu works with other professionals to promote the development of trauma psychology in Hong Kong and Asian region. Over the years, Dr. Wu actively engages in voluntary humanitarian work including psychological support to victims affected by disasters such as Lan Kwai Fong Incident (1993), Garley Building Fire (1996), SARS (2003), South Asia Tsunami (2005) and 5.12 Sichuan Earthquake (2008). In particular, Dr. Wu has been involved in the Sichuan Earthquake voluntary work including onsite relief work and developing service manuals, trainings for other professionals as well as designing model of psychological services. Being a scientist-practitioner, Dr. Wu has also been conducting research on posttraumatic psychological health and teaching on trauma psychology.
