Membership

Membership is open to people from a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings, including public and private health facilities, private practice, universities, non-university research foundations and many others. These include professionals in the fields of health, welfare, education, emergency services and associated disciplines who have a special interest in the issues of trauma and stress. Included are psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, researchers, lawyers, administrators, advocates, journalists, clergy and others with an interest in the study and treatment of traumatic stress.

Membership does not imply qualification or expertise. AsianSTSS is not responsible to verify the academic and professional qualifications claimed by members, appropriate information may be obtained from your local professional bodies.

Membership Categories

• Regular Membership
  All individuals interested in traumatic stress studies are invited to join. Members are eligible to vote, serve on committees and hold office in the organization. Annual subscription for regular membership is HKD200.

• Student Membership
  Student Membership is opened for students enrolled at full time in related programmes or curricula. Student members enjoy all membership benefits, but have no voting right. Annual subscription for student membership is HKD100.

• Life membership
  All individuals interested in traumatic stress studies are invited to join. Members are eligible to vote, serve on committees and hold office in the organization. Life membership is a permanent membership with one-time fee of HKD1000.

Members of the Society receive preferred enrolment in limited participation activities plus reduced registration fees to all forums. The half-yearly newsletter, Asian Traumatic Stress Points, provides information on activities in Hong Kong, Asia, and internationally, and updates on publications, research projects and topics of interest in the field. Membership provides linkage to professionals in Asia.

Members are expected to support the objectives of the Society as expressed in the Constitution.
