Free download of Chinese version of the manuals on Psychological First Aid for Families Experiencing Homelessness (露宿家庭的心理急救) and Psychological First Aid for Youth Experiencing Homelessness (露宿青少年的心理急救)

Dear Friends,

As a society for traumatic stress studies, AsianSTSS strives to promote and share good practices of traumatic work. One of our latest projects is the translation project of Psychological First Aid manuals, conjointly conducted with the Hong Kong Red Cross, for enhancing knowledge on offering psychological support to homeless families and youth. We are glad to inform you that this meaningful project has been completed, and the Chinese version of the manuals on Psychological First Aid for Families Experiencing Homelessness (露宿家庭的心理急救) and Psychological First Aid for Youth Experiencing Homelessness (露宿青少年的心理急救) are ready and free for download from our website now. Both manuals were developed based on the evidence-informed Psychological First Aid: Field Operations Guide, 2nd Edition. July, 2006. They provide information on the psychosocial reactions and needs of youths and families experiencing homelessness. Information on strategy, skills and support for workers serving these populations is included. The manuals shall become an essential guide for professions and workers (including social workers, counsellors, psychologists, doctors, nurses, teachers, emergency helpers, and volunteers) who are providing care for these populations.

The translated manuals will also be launched by our partner agencies, Hong Kong Red Cross, The National Child Traumatic Stress Network/National Centre for PTSD as well as the agencies that developed the original versions, Ambit Network for Psychological First Aid for Families Experiencing Homelessness and Hollywood Homeless Youth Partnership for Psychological First Aid for Youth Experiencing Homelessness.

May we take this opportunity to remind you of the enrolment deadline on 9th November 2011 for our upcoming Train-the-Trainer Workshops on "Psychological First Aid (PFA)" and "Skills for Psychology Recovery (SPR)" conducted by Dr. Melissa Bryer and Dr. Patricia Watson, experts of the field of PFA from the National Centre for Child. Please refer to our website (http://www.asianstss.org) for further enrolment details.

Please help disseminating this information to parties that may benefit from our work and thank you for
your support for AsianSTSS.

Regards,
AsianSTSS
